Christ University, formerly Christ College (Autonomous) affiliated to Bangalore University was established in July 1969. It became the most preferred educational institution in the city of Bangalore within the first three decades. From 1990 onwards it has scaled greater heights. Due to the introduction of innovative and modern curricula, insistence on academic discipline, imparting of Holistic Education, a team of creative and dedicated staff, the institution has been continually rated amongst the top 10 educational institutions of the country. It has the rare distinction of being the first institution in Karnataka to be accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) UGC for quality education. In 2004, UGC conferred Autonomy on the Institution.
In 2005, it became the first College in South India to be reaccredited with A+ by NAAC. UGC identified it as an Institution with Potential for Excellence in 2006.
On July 22, 2008, a glorious day in the history of the Institution, the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Union Government of India, under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, vide Notification No. F. 9-34/2007-U.3(A), declared it a Deemed to be University, in the name and style of Christ University.

It gives me great pleasure to receive you all to Christ University – a unique place with people from diverse cultures and regions.
We have stepped into yet another Academic Year 2012-13, with renewed hopes and aspirations. This should be the year of academic transformation. This transformation can happen in the teachers and the students through passion and discipline. I am sure all the new students will have memorable academic experience in this campus, a campus with opportunities and challenges for everyone.
“Transforming Education - Transforming Learning.” Your perception of learning and the learning environment will depend on your motivation levels and expectations. They determine how situational factors influence approaches to learning and learning outcomes set ahead. I urge you to make use of all the opportunities and challenges. These will make you responsible citizens.
My congratulations to the new entrants on making it to the University. The University is committed to its Vision - Excellence and Service, to deliver its best for the holistic development of its students and it is up to each one of you to reap the benefits of the tradition and culture this University has built up over the years. The infrastructure you will enjoy in this institution is second to none. The academic excellence imparted through the dedicated faculty members in an environment of self-study and research will be a sure advantage to those willing to put in extra efforts.
I am sure you will bring laurels to your University and will do everything to further its reputation as you join the academic fraternity of this University.
Let 2012-13 be a great year to all our stakeholders at Christ University, a landmark year in this transformation process.
