National Young Sociologist Competition 2012-13 aims to engage the young generation with critical and analytical thinking about various issues relevant for understanding the changing social relationships in contemporary world. The Competition seeks to fulfil this aim by inviting the participants to write original papers on topics prescribed below.

The theme for the National Young Sociologist Competition 2012-13 is:

Secularism, Democracy and Civil Society

The topics under this broad theme on which the participants are expected to write a paper are:

·Secularism in current day scenario

·NGO’s

·Civil society working for the benefit of people

·India the biggest democracy in the world

·Civil society and media

Eligibility

The competition is open to all undergraduate students studying Sociology as one their subjects in any of the institutions in India

August 31, 2012	Last date for submission of abstract(Extended date to 10th September)
September 10, 2012	Notification of shortlisted abstracts
October 10, 2012	Submission of full-length paper
November 10, 2012	Announcement of finalists for paper presentation
December 13, 2012	Final paper presentation at Christ University
