    The Department of Tourism Studies was established in 1999, dedicated to the motto of excellence and service .The Department is committed for the overall development of an individual through academic excellence, professional competence, personal, interpersonal and societal skills. Christ University became the premier educational institute in Karnataka to introduce a two-year Post-graduate Programme in Tourism Studies- Master of Tourism Administration (MTA).

    With a focus on Greater Academia and stronger Industry Relations, the Department gives emphasis on Research and development. It also offers Ph.D, M.Phil and B.Com Tourism and Travel Management courses. The department is an IATA/UFTAA Authorized Training Centre for international travel and tourism training programmes. Driven with a strong and sound set of core values, the department has always endeavored to empower students to face the challenges in the rapidly growing travel, tourism and hospitality industry.

    The Department imparts training in tourism and travel industry management and related areas. It provides opportunities to students to connect with various Bodies and Associations within the tourism industry in such a way that they are equipped professionally in the vocation of tourism.

    The Department also undertakes educational programmes and organizes courses of study, lectures, seminars, workshops, symposia and conferences to prepare the students to meet the requirements of tourism industry.

    The department offers guidance and directions to other institutions in the country and coordinates with them, so as to develop uniform and adequate standards of courses of instruction.

     

    MBA (Tourism and Travel Management)
    Tourism in India is a prospective area to explore and develop in a big way. Taking into account our heritage, history and traditions we can present to the rest of the world a profound treasure house provided we have the art and ingenuity to present it properly. Tourism will become a major provider of jobs and a source of foreign exchange as the Government and various agencies take up this big challenge.

    The Master of Tourism Administration Programme (MTA) in Christ University equips students with skills of a Business School Graduate and additional skills relevant to the travel, tourism & hospitality industry.

    The Masters Degree in Tourism Administration (MTA) was started in 1999 with an intention of training students who are suited to take up the Administrative and Managerial challenges of the Tourism, Travel & Hospitality Industry. Our MTA course is a Two -Year - Full -Time Four-Semester Programme.

    OBJECTIVES

    The training Programme in MTA focuses on the development of the whole person equipped with the following skills and attitudes to meet the needs of the changing and challenging social scenario.
