  • Certificate Course on Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility is an emerging area of focus in sociological analysis. CSR is often related to the rise of capitalism which in turn as a concept had undergone extensive sociological analysis and culminated in sociological theorizing. The present course on CSR is intended to facilitate the students to understand and define the concept in relation to the contemporary trends, analyze, criticize and to evolve new models of CSR. To fulfill the above mentioned objectives, the course is designed to be activity based wherein the students are encouraged to visit various organizations. To foster creativity and research skills among them, they will be assigned a preparation of a new model of CSR by analyzing various models that exist, that they would have studied through their visits. This will be achieved through structured group discussions and debates in the class. The syllabus is simple as students from other deaneries can easily understand. At the same time, the concepts of corporate governance, corporate philanthropy, policy aspects and some basic models of CSR in the syllabus make it competitive.
