Overview
With an aim to introduce Excellence and Service through the Arts, Christ University introduced the Performing Arts programme in the year 2010-11. Students who have enrolled for this Bachelor in Arts (BA) programme will focus on three major subjects - Performing Arts, English and Psychology.
Under the Performing Arts section the focus will be on three art forms – Classical Dance (Bharatanatyam), Theatre and Carnatic Music. Apart from the stipulated 60 hours per semester for the subject of Performing Arts – students will undergo value-added programmes over five semesters, to enhance their skill. The value-added courses will be on Playback Theatre, Classical Dance, Carnatic Music, Proscenium Theatre and Art Entrepreneurship.
Students of this programme will have plenty of opportunities to showcase their multifarious talents. They will also have the opportunity to attend guest lectures, workshops and shows with well-known people in the field as resource persons.
Note: There is no Honours option for Performing Arts Students. However, students who have done their PEP graduation will thereafter be eligible to do their Higher Studies either in Performing Arts, English or Psychology.
