    Mission : The Department of English aspires to promote an intellectual climate through artistic creation, critical mediation and innovative ideation in a culture of reciprocal transformation.


    Literature is an important cultural product of a society. And the study of English literature offers insights into the worldviews of different societies. The Department of English at Christ University concentrates on providing an overview of Literature from aesthetic, linguistic, socio-political and cultural contexts. The students of literature are encouraged to develop a unique subjective objectivity that helps them in self-exploration and self realization.

    The curriculum for both UG and PG programmes develops the rich talents of students, offers near industry environment and is contemporarily relevant, connecting to every aspect of society. Headed by Prof. John J Kennedy and ably supported by a dedicated fraternity of teachers the department continues to strive, explore and achieve.

    Overview

    The Department of English covers, enriches and reinforces the rich heritage offered by literature, facilitate ideas that provoke, prod and nurture critical as well as creative thinking, develops inherent values and builds an emotional and intellectual connectivity between the student and society. A dynamic environment coupled with a meaningful stress on all-round educational effectiveness facilitates an attitude that lays emphasis on moral, social and intellectual ethics.

     

    Students can opt for Honours programme in English (UG) from the V Semester based on their Academic Performance, Interview, Written Test and Conduct.
