    Introduction


    Deanery occupies a strategic position in higher education in terms of providing academic lead and administrative facilitation to the teachers and students. Stream wise deaneries in Christ University coordinate all the activities from designing of curriculum to result analysis. Through a technology enabled effective networking the deaneries constantly innovate methods for knowledge dissemination and knowledge generation. Having the largest number of disciplines, students and teachers in the broader areas of Humanities and Social Sciences, our deanery is engaged in an ongoing dialogue on polity, economy, society and culture and specifically the fields of Psychology, Media and Communication studies and Sociology.

    Master of Commerce (MCom)

    The objective of the program is to develop teaching and research talent to create academic expertise suiting to contemporary needs of the society. There is a need to transform teaching as a profession more than a mere career to bring in the right skills, capability and attitude in the field of academics in the larger interest of sustainable education. The program aims to create faculty of quality and competence in the subject areas of Commerce & Management. The two year M.Com program is divided into 4 semesters. It nurtures research culture and has innovative features like “papers by research”, industry internship and teaching practice in BCom classes under the supervision of faculty mentors. The third & fourth semesters offers electives in ‘Accounting & Taxation’ and ‘Finance & Banking’.

     

    Objective:

    Program:

    The M.Com program of Christ University is of 24 months’ duration (4 Semesters) with significant emphasis on Research. The program is career oriented in its design, course structure and teaching-learning process, as compared to traditional M.Com. The program includes value-adding modules on teaching methodology and student behaviour, in addition to descriptive research oriented study modules on various subjects of Commerce & Management, with options for specialization. The curriculum is developed duly considering the desired level of knowledge exposure in the context of ever changing environment in global business. Research paper on a chosen functional area based on industry/ organizational interaction/ internship, is included to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

    Number of Seats:

    The Course will have an intake of 30 students.

     

    Placement:
    The University may offer placement on campus as Junior Lecturer/Probationary Lecturer to students completing the program successfully, depending on the vacancy available.

    Fee Concessions/Scholarship:

    Fee concessions / Loan Scholarships may be allowed to deserving students, as per University rules in this regard.
